CFH DOCMAIL SUPPORTS THE WOODLAND TRUST WITH ITS FIRST COMMEMORATIVE INDICIA

Docmail Jubilee_Indicia-FINAL
Print and post provider CFH Docmail has launched its first commemorative indicia which encourages everyone to Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.
In celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Jubilee Woods campaign aims to plant six million trees during 2012, including 60 special diamond woods throughout the UK.
As a longstanding corporate supporter of the Woodland Trust, CFH Total Document Management, creator of the brand Docmail, is delighted to be lending its support to the new campaign.
Over the last 15 years, CFH has been contributing to the Woodland Trust’s planting programme through its own Toptree Initiative. By requesting Toptree supported products, CFH customers ensure that twice as many trees are planted in Woodland Trust woods and forests as were used to make the paper in the first place. As a result, the Toptree Initiative has added over 76,000 new broadleaf deciduous trees to woodlands in the UK.This is the first time that Docmail has used a stamp like indicia to commemorate a special event. The second in the series will be launched for the Olympics this summer.
Dave Broadway, managing director of CFH Total Document Management says; “Some three million people will see the Jubilee Woods indicia over the January and February period. It’s a great way to help the Woodland Trust raise awareness for the Jubilee Woods campaign, and contribute to the planting of six million trees this year.”
The Woodland Trust project aims to create hundreds of Jubilee Woods throughout the UK, and 60 special Diamond Woods, transforming the UK landscape in a generation and providing a lasting and meaningful tribute for many years to come. This includes the Trust's exciting new flagship Diamond Wood in the heart of The National Forest in Leicestershire, a haven for wildlife and a wonderful monument to Her Majesty, open for all to enjoy.
“By helping encourage everyone to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee” we join with the Woodland Trust’s hope that neighbours, communities, schools and families will come together to plant thousands of individual trees in their gardens, playgrounds and community spaces – each taking the chance to mark this special moment in history in a way that will stay with them forever,” says Mr Broadway.

Assurance can help drive internal change

Getting more value from assurance can be achieved by involving stakeholders in assurance processes, exploring more ‘real-time’ assurance, and using assurance to raise awareness and to stimulate change in culture.
At a roundtable in Madrid, entitled “Innovation in assurance: effective and efficient reporting”, organised by Two Tomorrows and supported by its Spanish partner MAS Business, participants looked at the opportunities available to companies seeking greater value from the assurance process.
They heard how greater stakeholder involvement was just one way to increase trust in sustainability reporting, and reap the benefits of increased awareness amongst senior management and improved internal processes.
Participants agreed on the best ways of achieving these goals, stressing the importance of focussing the assurance process towards the issues of greatest importance to the company and its stakeholders.
“Being responsive to stakeholders is an indispensible tool for creating trust and providing meaningful assurance,” comments Jon Woodhead, managing director of Two Tomorrows (Europe) Ltd.
“By treating assurance as a two way street, companies should not be afraid to demand changes to assurance processes by their assurance providers. Greater focus on material issues, inclusion of stakeholders in the process, and more transparent feedback, are all areas where companies and their stakeholders benefit from a more responsive approach to assurance.”
Jon continues, “By making clear recommendations on strategy, assurance can help drive internal change.
“Report assurance bridges the gap between what a company says and what a reader believes. Assurance should involve checks not only that the things in the report are right, but also that the right things are being reported, from the point of view of internal and external stakeholders.”
Defining a clear purpose and subsequently selecting the appropriate methodology for assurance is key to its success. Two Tomorrows uses international standards such as the AA1000 Assurance Standard (2008), and incorporates approaches such as ISA3000, to design the optimum method for each client.
Telefónica and Meliá Hotels International were invited to share their experiences of assurance with delegates. Alberto Andreu, Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer of Telefónica described the use of AA1000 as a “business card” to engage with other internal departments, and help breakdown internal silos. Esther Trujillo, Senior Vice President Institutional Office and Corporate Diplomacy of Meliá Hotels International outlined how the inclusion of an innovative online facility has allowed stakeholders to give instant feedback on each page of their most recent report.
Jon Woodhead concludes, “Assurance is continually evolving as companies develop their own individual approach to reporting. Providing the role of critical friend, assurance can guide reporters in ensuring balanced reporting and checking stakeholder expectations on sustainability strategy.”
